What is Spirulina

Spirulina is one of the richest sources of nutrients found naturally in water.  It’s a spiral-shaped blue-green microalgae commonly found in subtropical oceans, rivers and other bodies of water.  Technically, Spirulina is bacteria, not a plant, but unlike other pond scum, Spirulina is overflowing with rich nutrients such as antioxidants, chlorophyll, protein, amino acids, vitamin B-12 and several minerals including an abundance of iron.  Moreover, Spirulina contains terrific essential fatty acids, especially, omega-3, omega-6, omega-9 and gamma linolenic fatty acid.  All of these nutrients add up to a powerful superfood supplement with some highly touted health benefits.
