Calming, Soothing Chamomile Tea

Chamomile Tea is one of the classic tea flavors that have been enjoyed by many cultures around the world for centuries.  And there’s a good reason for that.  Chamomile has wonderful calming and soothing properties that help the body relax and heal on many levels.  If you’ve ever wondered why kicking back with a cup of tea – especially Chamomile Tea – makes you feel better, you’ll want to keep reading.  Today we’re exploring how Chamomile Tea helps relieve aches and pains through its natural soothing ingredients.

Chamomile has many amazing nutrients including antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.  But perhaps the most effective is an essential oil called bisabolol.  The calming and soothing qualities of Chamomile Tea stem from this unique oil.  Here’s how:

Muscle Relaxer:  Chamomile Tea helps calm muscles especially from having spasms.  The tea stimulates glycine levels that are effective at treating muscle spasms of all sorts.

Digestive Aid:  Because Chamomile Tea helps relax muscles, it works to ease the muscles of the intestines to improve digestion.  Chamomile Tea contains oil that is particularly deft at soothing gastrointestinal distress.  To that end it is commonly recommended to help those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). To reap the full benefits, do not allow the water to boil when making your tea as this eliminates some of its nutrients.

Sleep Aid:   Chamomile Tea is great for soothing yourself to sleep too. It is a very mild sedative that calms the nervous system.  This allows your body and mind to slow and enter a restful state more conducive for sleep.

Menstrual Cramps:  Again as a muscle relaxer, Chamomile Tea can help reduce this negative side-effect of the menstrual cycle.  The contraction of the uterus muscle is helped by the glycine produced through consumption of Chamomile Tea.

Skin Irritation:  With anti-swelling and antimicrobial properties, Chamomile Tea helps soothe common skin irritants ranging from allergic reactions and rashes, to dry skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis, to acne and blemishes.

Stress and Tension:  As Chamomile Tea is great for calming nerves, it has been used to help reduce stress and anxiety.  One study showed a significant improvement in anxiety levels among those who drank three to four cups of Chamomile Tea daily.

Stay calm and drink on…Chamomile Tea that is!  Enjoy the soothing and calming effects of Zokiva’s all-natural Chamomile Tea.  Cheers!
